Best Laid Plans

The lockdown was finally easing enough that the propmaker had gone back to uni to find new digs for September and the biologist was happy to be able to go back to work for beginning of August. We moved her in and had returned home where I was catching up on some chores after which I was planning on getting on with some long overdue work. Three days later I get a phone call to say that she's fractured her finger in 3 places, as well as having an open wound on it. Hastily packed bags and the next day I was back with her, with permission from her boss to move in to look after her. A week, 3 hospital visits, and at least one more on the horizon, and I'm still here. The good news is that, firstly, her finger is on the mend and has almost stopped bleeding, secondly, I've got some major edits done so I'm catching up on my workload - although nowehere near finished.

This is the bureau that is in my bedroom if I don't want to sit at the table to work - trying to work out if I'll feel more writerly if I sit at it.

The cabin has been great in this heat (much better than at home) as it has a large overhanging roof which means there's always some shade.

Yesterday I sat here and watched the lightning and then the rain staying nice and dry but enjoying the fresh air. Though I did dash out and help them cover the large log pile with tarps just before the rain started.

More work done today - not sure how much longer I'll be needed here but in some ways I will be sorry to leave this peaceful haven and I have loved watching a variety of birds I don't see at home.

Well signing off for now,

Take care in these trying times,

Marie
